1. 20 miles: done.

3 hours 31 minutes. 10:35ish pace? Too tired to calculate.

Highlight came at mile 15 when I was almost involved in my first career fight. (“almost” is a slight exaggeration.)

We were at a our third Gatorade station when some guys in a huge manly truck slowed down in the parking lot and began yelling all sorts of vulgarities at us.

"Thanks," Jed told them, and they drove off.

"Did you know them?" I asked him. "Nope. I thought you did." "Weird."

We went on our way until the passed again. This time on the road about seven feet away. I acted like I was going to hurl my Gatorade into the side of the truck, which forced the passenger to duck for cover and the driver to swerve into the turning lane. The passenger leaned out the window and yelled angrily.

About three minutes later, we see them coming again.

"My god," I said. "What are they doing?"

This time the passenger leaned out and threw a rock at us. It missed, but Jed was pissed.

"Get out!" he yelled.

I turned to see them pulling into a parking lot to turn around.

I took off into a different parking lot.

"What are you doing?" Jed yelled?

"Hiding, idiot." I replied. "Come with me."

He didn’t. I hid behind a dumpster. I snuck a peak though to see them yelling at each other. By this time, I realized I should go back. My thinking was that it would make for a compelling post to say we got into a fight. Oh, and I wanted to be there with Jed so he wouldn’t have to take them alone… I grabbed a stake out of the ground and caught up with him. They had thrown another rock at him.

We didn’t see them again (luckily for them, and unfortunately for my tumblr ambitions).

Our adrenaline made the next mile go by too quickly and we slowed up the last three miles.

Overall, though, a good run. An interesting run. A tiring run…

Good night
